Snow Day

We finally got our first snow of the winter. I know the forecast was for only one inch, but Madelyn was super excited. She has been watching our Frosty the Snowman DVD, and she can sing the first verse all by herself. When we told her it was going to snow, Madelyn thought that Frosty was going to come to see her. This girl makes me laugh everyday.

When she woke up the next morning to see the snow, she seemed very unimpressed. She just looked outside, and said "hmm...let's go play toys".

I know it was super cold outside, but I wanted to take her outside for a few minutes. I think she enjoyed herself, but she is definitely a summer girl. She asked for her pool and her soccer ball.
We stayed outside for about 15 minutes before coming inside to warm up. I made us a nice cup of hot chocolate, and we spent the rest of the day inside where it is warm.

Tales from the baby monitor...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It has been a while since I posted. Things have been really busy for us. We have been visiting with our friends and family, putting together and playing with all Madelyn's new toys, and just trying to return to our normal routine.

I don't have much to post, but I wanted to share a couple of cute stories about Madelyn. I will try to post some Christmas pictures soon.

Madelyn was very excited about Christmas this year. She is beginning to understand the concept, and she knew that there were presents under the tree for her. All her presents were wrapped in Dora the Explorer paper, and she knew they were for her. However, she did not understand why she couldn't open them now. Madelyn also recognized who Santa was this year. We put a Santa statue upstairs beside her tree, and she loved it. She talked to him everyday. She hugged him and wanted to sit in his lap. It was so cute.

Anyway, one night when she was supposed to be sleeping, I heard her talking to Santa over the baby monitor. It went something like this...

"Santa.....Santa...SANTA, I open my presents, now? Okay?"

Pause for a moment.

"OK"

"Mommy, Santa said I open my presents now! MOMMY, Santa said I open my presents, ok?"

Okay, nice try, but you're just going to have to wait.

Another night she was in her bed trying to avoid going to sleep, she started yelling for me to come upstairs.

"Mommy, my socks fall off. My socks fall off, Mommy"

Sure they did. I go upstairs to put her socks back on and remind her that she is supposed to be sleeping.

"Mommy, Swiper the Fox took my socks off."

She is completely into Dora right now. We had to tell Swiper "Swiper no swiping" before we could get her socks back. Swiper had to sleep in the toy box since he couldn't behave.

I hope you enjoyed these stories, and I hope you have a blessed new year!

God bless!

All I Want for Christmas is You

I don't need a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need

I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know

Make my wish come true

All I want for Christmas is you!
Merry Christmas!

The Christmas Story

We had our Christmas program at church Sunday night. It was very simple, but very beautiful. The church was candlelit as we sang Silent Night and O Come all Ye Faithful. The children gathered at the front as Jerry read the Christmas story from the Bible. Then the kids sang a couple of songs. It was a wonderful service.

These are a few pics from that night.

Madelyn and Carolyn.

Carolyn, Elizabeth, and Madelyn. Madelyn loves these girls. She is always asking to go see her friends.

So sweet!

The kids singing...

Madelyn crawled up in the rocking chair instead of sitting on the floor with the other kids.

Waiting patiently for presents...

Merry Christmas!

Santa Baby

As you can see, our visit to Santa didn't go very well.

O, Christmas Tree

We have 3 Christmas trees up at our house. We usually put our trees up before Thanksgiving just so we can enjoy them longer. This year was no exception.

I've never really had a problem with Madelyn bothering the tree. She mostly just likes to look at them. She is extremely excited about all the lights and decorations.

Here she is posing with her tree. I call it the "Charlie Brown" tree because it is so small and sparse. The ornaments really help to make it look better.

This is the tree in my foyer. I usually only have clear lights, but this year, for fun, we decided to use colored lights on one of our trees. The other trees are decorated in reds and golds, but this one is more of a sentimental tree. It has all our keepsake ornaments on it. I haven't done a very good job of buying special ornaments, but it is never too late to start a tradition. I am going to start getting a couple of special ornaments for Madelyn every year of something that she is interested in. This year I am looking for Mickey and Dora.
The picture isn't very good, but this tree also has a lot of pink ornaments on it. I also have a pink angel and pink Santa Claus sitting on the tree skirt. Pink has always been a favorite color, so I had to have some pink Christmas decor.

Last, but not least, this is the tree in my living room. Be sure to see my post below for pictures of Madelyn decorating it. I really like how all my trees look, and I am very excited for Christmas this year. This will be Madelyn's third Christmas, but it will be the first year she will know what is going on. I love to see her face light up when she stares at the trees. Christmas has always been a special holiday for me, but it will be especially so this year.

I pray everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Trimming the CHRISTmas tree

It is definitely the Christmas tree in our house, not the holiday tree. I refuse to say "happy holidays". It is "Merry Christmas!". Jesus is the reason for the season, and I will not be politically correct. It is time that we stand up for what we believe.

Madelyn helped me decorate the tree a couple of weeks ago, and I am just now getting the pictures posted. She had a great time playing with the ornaments, and she loves to see the lights and decorations. Christmas is such a magical time for children. She lights up like a Christmas tree whenever I bring out more decorations. Jerry will definitely have to decorate the house next year. He said he wasn't going to put up the outside lights this year because of everything he has going on right now, but Madelyn may change his mind.

I am so glad she is so excited about Christmas. I just want to teach her that there is more to Christmas than trees and lights.

We want to teach Madelyn the true meaning of Christmas because so many have forgotten. I want her to know that Christmas is more than Santa Claus and getting presents. Those things are fun, but we need to celebrate that Jesus was born to save us from our sins. He came to earth in a very humble way in a lowly stable when He was worthy of a golden palace.
I am so very thankful that Jesus is my Savior, and that He came to sacrifice His life just for me. I pray that each one of you know Jesus personally, and that you will celebrate Him this Christmas season.
God bless!
