My Little Puppy

Madelyn loves to pretend to be a puppy. I don't know why because we don't even have a dog, but I think it is the cutest thing. I usually have to scratch her back and feed her treats for doing tricks. I made a little video of her today. Enjoy!

Born to be Wild

Head out on the highway...

Looking for adventure......

Or whatever comes our way.....

Born to be Wild.....

Not really! I don't mean that my daughter is wild because she is actually really sweet. This song just came into my head whenever she wheeled into the room. Madelyn was playing with her tricycle when she told me she would be right back. She went upstairs and got this hat. So cute! She makes me laugh everyday! I love this little girl God has blessed me with!

The Sweetest Thing

Last night when Madelyn was supposed to be sleeping, I overheard her talking to Minnie and Mickey. She always sleeps with her Minnie and Mickey Mouse stuffed plush, so this is pretty normal nightly activity. This is what I heard her say:

Hey, Minnie and Mickey. I love my mommy and I love my daddy. Now let's go to sleep.

This girl melts my heart.

Family Bowling

On Saturday, our church made a trip to the local bowling alley to fellowship and spend time together. We had such a great time. This was the first time that Madelyn had gone bowling and she loved it. The kids were so fun to watch because they got so excited even if they only knocked one pin down. It was great!

Madelyn would cheer for her ball. She would say, "Go, ball, go!" and "knock 'em down". She did not want to leave. She wanted "more games". We will definitely have to take her bowling again soon!

Here are a few pictures from the day. I only took pictures of the kids and some of them are a little dark, but you can tell how much fun they are having.

Places to Go

"Mommy, I go to Dora's house. Ok?"

"Ok"

"Bye, Mommy."

I don't really have much to write about today. I just thought these pictures were really cute. She put that hat on herself, and packed her bags to go see Dora. I don't know where she comes up with this stuff, but she keeps me entertained. I love this little girl!

Baby showers and small group

Yesterday was a very busy and full day for me. I had two baby showers to attend and we had small group. I forgot my camera, so I don't have any pictures to share.

The first baby shower I went to was for a sweet friend who I am so excited for. I won't use her name because their story is so personal. This couple is in their late 30's and are expecting their first baby, a sweet little girl they are naming Leah. Love it! I am so excited for them, and I know this is definitely a Praise the Lord. They have been trying to have a baby for a very long time with no success and many disappointments. They went through all the treatments for infertility, and we were even pregnant at the same time. Sadly, though, she miscarried her pregnancy. Heartbroken, they accepted that they may never hold a baby on this side of eternity. However, God had a different plan! Hallelujah, I am so glad that God plans are not our plans. This sweet family acquired custody of her two nieces as a result of poor choices in their mother's life. In the midst of getting custody of their nieces, and becoming accustomed to having little girls in the house, she discovered she was pregnant.

She was absolutely beautiful, and I could tell she was so grateful for the gift of life inside her womb. I am so happy for this very deserving couple. They will be great parents.

The second shower I attended was for my sweet friend, Jenny. I worked with Jenny for several years, and I always thought of her as my little sister. I am so proud of her for what she has accomplished in her life. I was at her wedding in 2008, and I could tell her husband adores her. So, I was thrilled to hear they were expecting a little boy, Chandler.

Congratulations to both of my friends! I pray you have smooth and easy deliveries without complications. I pray that both babies are born healthy and happy. I pray that these babies will always know the Lord and walk with Him all the days of their lives. Thank you Jesus for these sweet babies you have blessed my friends with.

We started a brand new small group in our church for young adults. Last night was a test run, so to speak, and I think it went great. We had food, fellowship, and fun. We met at Emily and Drew's house (thank-you for hosting) where we had a meal and small Bible study. I really enjoyed it. This is a great way to get to know people in a more comfortable setting. It is also a great way to involve people who may not normally go to church. The plan is to take turns hosting a monthly meeting of the group, but I am hoping we can begin to meet more frequently.

Wow! What a day! Two baby showers and small group.

God bless!

Little Miss Priss

I think I might have a little primp on my hands.

Christmas....finally

I know it has been almost a month since Christmas, but I still wanted to share a few pictures. I will say that this year ranks as one of my most favorite. Christmas was so much fun this year with Madelyn. She was so excited about everything, and it made it so much more special for me.

Opening presents with Pappy.

Madelyn's new tricycle from Pappy and Mamaw. She was so excited, and she was calling it her "bike cycle". My Dad's house was our first stop during Christmas. She finally got to open presents, and we had a really great time.

Helping Mamaw open presents.
We celebrated Christmas Eve with Jerry's family. Not everyone could come this year, but we still had a great time together.
Grandma and Uncle Danny helping Madelyn with one of her new toys.

Madelyn and Aunt Dana playing with her new Dora music player.

Family picture at my sisters house. Libby and Josh Smith, Mom, Madelyn and me, Jerry, and Carrie. We went to my sister's house on Christmas night. After opening presents, we played a little Wii bowling. It was so much fun. I think we should do it more often.

Madelyn walking around in my heels. She loves wearing my shoes.

Libby took this picture on her hearth. It was also our Christmas card photo.

Waiting patiently to open more presents.

We had a nice family Christmas morning at home just the three of us. We were able to take our time opening presents. We were able to play with toys, sit around in our pajamas, and we didn't have to worry about a time schedule. We even took a break to cook a big Christmas breakfast. I really hope we can continue this tradition.

I took our Christmas decorations down last week. Madelyn was so upset with me for taking down her lights and trees. I think if it were up to her, she would keep the tree up year round.

Snow Day

We finally got our first snow of the winter. I know the forecast was for only one inch, but Madelyn was super excited. She has been watching our Frosty the Snowman DVD, and she can sing the first verse all by herself. When we told her it was going to snow, Madelyn thought that Frosty was going to come to see her. This girl makes me laugh everyday.

When she woke up the next morning to see the snow, she seemed very unimpressed. She just looked outside, and said "hmm...let's go play toys".

I know it was super cold outside, but I wanted to take her outside for a few minutes. I think she enjoyed herself, but she is definitely a summer girl. She asked for her pool and her soccer ball.
We stayed outside for about 15 minutes before coming inside to warm up. I made us a nice cup of hot chocolate, and we spent the rest of the day inside where it is warm.

Tales from the baby monitor...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It has been a while since I posted. Things have been really busy for us. We have been visiting with our friends and family, putting together and playing with all Madelyn's new toys, and just trying to return to our normal routine.

I don't have much to post, but I wanted to share a couple of cute stories about Madelyn. I will try to post some Christmas pictures soon.

Madelyn was very excited about Christmas this year. She is beginning to understand the concept, and she knew that there were presents under the tree for her. All her presents were wrapped in Dora the Explorer paper, and she knew they were for her. However, she did not understand why she couldn't open them now. Madelyn also recognized who Santa was this year. We put a Santa statue upstairs beside her tree, and she loved it. She talked to him everyday. She hugged him and wanted to sit in his lap. It was so cute.

Anyway, one night when she was supposed to be sleeping, I heard her talking to Santa over the baby monitor. It went something like this...

"Santa.....Santa...SANTA, I open my presents, now? Okay?"

Pause for a moment.

"OK"

"Mommy, Santa said I open my presents now! MOMMY, Santa said I open my presents, ok?"

Okay, nice try, but you're just going to have to wait.

Another night she was in her bed trying to avoid going to sleep, she started yelling for me to come upstairs.

"Mommy, my socks fall off. My socks fall off, Mommy"

Sure they did. I go upstairs to put her socks back on and remind her that she is supposed to be sleeping.

"Mommy, Swiper the Fox took my socks off."

She is completely into Dora right now. We had to tell Swiper "Swiper no swiping" before we could get her socks back. Swiper had to sleep in the toy box since he couldn't behave.

I hope you enjoyed these stories, and I hope you have a blessed new year!

God bless!
